ANIMAL CARE ASSISTANT

Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (ROAR) is seeking Animal Care Assistant. Our Animal Care Team works closely with various ROAR programs to ensure the smooth and efficient movement of animals from intake to adoption. Reports to the Animal Care Coordinator.

Duties include but are not limited to: housekeeping: laundry, mopping, sweeping and cleaning various areas of shelter; feeding, medicating and care of dogs and cats; Experienced candidate must be comfortable with animal handling. Be able to maneuver 50+ lbs.

Candidate must be 21 years or older, reliable, good team player, able to work efficiently and good communication skills. Have exceptional customer service skills, ability to multi-task, take direction well and have confidence to deal with stressful situations on a daily basis. Knowledge and experience in animal care and handling for both dogs and cats are strongly preferred.

Starting pay is $11.00/hr and is based on experience. Hours are part-time; weekdays and weekends; mornings and/or evenings; approximately 15-20 hours /week. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and be able to get to work in all kinds of weather-related situations.

Required education:

  • High school or equivalent

Required experience:

  • Kennel work/ professional animal care for dogs and cats: 1 year

Required language:

  • English

Required license or certification:

  • Driver’s License
