Responsible for managing adoption process from initial application through post adoption follow-up, including home visits. Responsible for communicating application out-come to potential adopters in a courteous and tactful manner. Responsible for adoption postings on website. Maintains dog and cat viewing books. Provides staff and volunteer training in adoption process as needed. Participates in showing of available animals. Promotes responsible pet ownership according to ROAR’s policies in conversation with customers. Assists with maintenance of adoption applications and contracts. Assists with temperament testing of dogs. Assists in off-site adoption events when schedule allows. Assist in the development and revising of SOPs pertaining to the adoption program
High School diploma or equivalent. Must possess minimum one year of experience working in the animal welfare field with demonstrated passion for animal rescue. Ability to work well with the public, volunteers and fellow staff members with tact, patience and courtesy. Must have friendly attitude, integrity, good judgment, honesty, tact and initiative. Must have the ability to control and handle all shelter/foster animals with patience and gentleness. Must be willing to acquire a working knowledge of care of cats/kittens and dogs/puppies. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs without assistance. Must be conversant and sympathetic with the principals, procedures and objectives of ROAR. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills are required. The successful candidate must be tactful and adept at conflict resolution. Must be at least 21 years of age and speak fluent English. Availability and willingness to work a flexible schedule are a plus.
